Dr. Xinghan Chen

Xinghan Chen is an experienced researcher with many years of work in GNSS POD/PNT, whose contributions have advanced the field through both methodological innovation and operational implementation. During his time at the GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences from October 2016 to September 2024, he has contributed to the development of high-performance multi-GNSS POD algorithms and real-time processing strategies, enhancing the robustness, efficiency, and reliability of large-scale GNSS orbit solutions and enabling operational real-time PNT services at GFZ. His research on non-conservative force modeling, particularly SRP and higher-order perturbations, has led to measurable improvements in orbit accuracy for Galileo and BeiDou satellites, including under challenging eclipse conditions. Since 2023, Dr. Chen has been responsible for the development of the Korea Positioning System (KPS) OD platform within a long-term collaboration between the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) and GFZ, initiated through the project ‘Development of Validation Model of KPS OD System’. Within this project, he developed an adaptive orbit recovery approach capable of reconstructing precise orbits under severely degraded initial conditions, without relying on external navigation message and satellite clock support. This capability has been successfully integrated into the current KPS OD platform, demonstrating strong operational applicability. Since October 2024, his work within the DFG-funded MOTIVATING project (Project No. 532942504) at Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin) has focused on advancing non-conservative force modeling through a unique combination of theoretical insight, algorithmic development, and multi-source integration.
