Prof. Dr. Jürgen Döllner
Prof. Dr. Jürgen Döllner is a scientist, entrepreneur, and innovation strategist specializing in visual computing, visual analytics, geospatial AI, AI systems engineering, and deep tech innovation.
He is one of the founding tenure professors of the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), Germany’s leading institute for IT Systems Engineering. At HPI, he helped design and establish the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in IT Systems Engineering.
As Head of the Computer Graphics Systems Department at HPI, Prof. Döllner has led pioneering research in visual computing, geospatial analytics, multimodal AI, digital engineering, and digital twin technologies. He combines deep scientific expertise with a strategic perspective on emerging technologies, helping organizations understand and leverage the next generation of visual, spatial, and AI-driven computing.
Beyond academia, Prof. Döllner has a strong entrepreneurial track record. He co-founded the German Deep Tech Group, a holding company focused on high-impact IT start-ups, as well as 3D Geo GmbH. Its technology became part of Autodesk IfraWorks, now a global platform for infrastructure planning, urban design, and spatial digital twin modeling.
