Digital Twins elevate spatial information from specialist datasets into digital infrastructure — enabling organizations to connect data, understand change, and act with confidence across cities, utilities, infrastructure, and enterprises.

This session introduces the role of modern 3D GIS in Digital Twins and shows how spatial information, reality capture, real-time data, and AI come together to create living representations of real-world systems. We will discuss how technologies such as Reality Mapping, 3D scene layers, sensor integration, and AI-supported analysis help transform spatial data into operational intelligence.

A special focus will be on the emerging role of autonomous mapping: from drones, mobile mapping, and connected sensors to continuously updated 3D representations of buildings, infrastructure, and entire urban environments. Real-world examples will show how these capabilities support planning, monitoring, change detection, asset management, and faster operational decisions.
