The Capacity Development Project for Utilizing the National Geospatial Data Infrastructure in Ukraine (hereinafter referred to as the Project) is being implemented with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japanese consulting company Kokusai Kogyo CO., LTD. Project implementation period: February 2022 - February 2027. The beneficiary of the Project is the StateGeoСadastre.
Cooperation with JICA became one of the key factors in the creation and development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) in Ukraine.
The first JICA project (2015-2018) laid the regulatory and institutional framework for the system. The current Project is aimed at ensuring the sustainability of the NSDI development, updating data and implementing new services.
The purpose of the Project is to create appropriate conditions for the NSDI functioning in Ukraine and to form the foundations for understanding the benefits of using the NSDI by relevant state institutions, the private sector and communities, as well as to improve access of Ukrainian citizens to basic and comprehensive information on natural resources, roads, cultural heritage sites, etc., which is necessary for the economic and social activities of the population.
The Project provides for the development of specifications and methodological documents, integration and display of geospatial data sets on the NSDI National Geoportal, modernization of existing and development of new functionalities and services of the NSDI National Geoportal to support decision-making and recovery processes, as well as ensuring understanding of the advantages and features of the use of geospatial data by relevant state institutions, the private sector and communities.
In addition, the Project is updating the base topographic map at a scale of 1:10,000 for the territory of Ukraine, which is critically important for the reconstruction and development of territories.
