Robotics meets Precision – RITA, the automated height-measuring and marking robot for plant construction
Precise alignment of machinery and plant components is essential in plant construction. Surveying tasks such as setting floor markings are still frequently performed manually today, making them both time-consuming and labor-intensive. At the same time, the increasing size of plants and tight project schedules are raising the demands placed on these tasks.
Due to that, the mobile robotic platform RITA was developed. The robot automates high-precision floor markings and enables DIN-compliant height measurements directly on the construction site. Through a specially developed fine-positioning system combined with a laser tracker, RITA achieves a point accuracy of less than 0.5 mm. Simultaneously, up to 300 floor markings per hour can be set automatically.
The presentation outlines the system concept, technical implementation, and practical experience gained from plant construction applications. It also highlights the potential of autonomous robotic systems for the future of surveying.
