Multi-technique POD for the preparation of the Genesis mission

Bloßfeld (1) (1) DGFI-TUM The Genesis mission, planned for launch in 2028, aims to collocate the four space-geodetic techniques within a single satellite platform. In preparation for this mission, existing satellites equipped with subsets of these techniques provide valuable testbeds for the development and validation of combined precise orbit determination (POD) strategies. In this context, the Jason-3 satellite is used to investigate the combination of Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) and Doppler Orbitography and Radiopositioning Integrated by Satellite (DORIS) observations. Within the Genesis-D project, DGFI-TUM focuses on assessing the contribution of these techniques to a joint POD solution. Building on a previous study that explored suitable relative weighting strategies of SLR and DORIS observations at the observation level, this work extends the analysis to a longer mission period and further investigates the consistency and performance of combined solutions. Different combination approaches, including the combination of normal equations, are examined. The results are evaluated using internal validation, which provides insights into subsequent processing strategies.
