In model-based planning for traffic rout projects, you will immediately recognize the limitations of the traditional approach to modeling. It is often difficult to create clean models in this context. The design of roadside areas—especially at intersections—modeling of residual areas, terrain design around interchanges or structural components, and specialized structures with unique geometries and properties all present significant challenges. With our new specialized and parameterized workflow in our Construction Kit, we solve many of these problems. ConKit offers you a number of advantages over conventional workflows: You create and edit only domain-specific objects that define the desired result (definition objects). These are designed with specific business needs in mind and are generally tailored to the specific use cases of your daily tasks. You can enter the parameters of the definition objects interactively via graphics or in dialog boxes, and can easily use predefined parameter sets from a catalog. The spatial location of an object is defined relatively. In doing so, the definition objects in turn reference the geometric data of other objects. This could be, for example, the directly adjacent object to which the object is to be connected at its edge, or a topographic line to be used as the baseline geometry for location and elevation. In today's modern work environment, this object-based planning offers many advantages over a cross-functional approach. The same applies to features such as railings, markings, signage, guardrails, or noise barriers. The result is specialized objects with 3D models and other spatial geometry data.This means you work directly in the 3D model—without having to go through the 2D design phase first. Of course, these objects can be assigned various predefined and user-defined attributes. This provides you with a high-quality result model that not only optimally supports the BIM process but can also serve as the basis for many other automated applications and analyses.
